Serenity Thomas, M.Ac., L.Ac, is a master acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and wellness consultant specializing in the treatment of women’s health conditions, such as PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, fibroids, fertility challenges and the effects of menopause. She also assists patients experiencing digestive disorders and treats pediatric ailments, such as eczema and asthma.
Serenity is a native of New Jersey who spent her formative years in Baltimore City, Maryland. After her mother passed away in 2006, Serenity found herself in a deep state of grief and depression. Through acupuncture, Serenity was able to process her grief, re-awaken to the sensations of her body and re-open to the fullness of life. Realizing the profound impact that Chinese medicine could have on the body, mind and spirit, Serenity decided to leave her corporate career and pursue a career in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine so she could share the positive benefits of Chinese medicine with those in her community.
Serenity graduated from the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in 2012 with a Masters in Acupuncture and a post-master’s certificate in Chinese Herbal medicine. Serenity is board-certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture and she is licensed to practice acupuncture in the State of Alaska. She has pursued post-graduate studies in pediatrics, infertility and endocrinology.
Serenity believes that the body is wise and capable of abundant health. She believes that the symptoms we each experience are signals from our body, telling us that something is out of balance. Serenity believes that acupuncture, herbs and simple wellness practices can help to radically shift our bodies from a state of dis-ease to one of vibrant health. With Juneau Family Acupuncture, her mission and purpose is to assist her patients in overcoming their health and wellness challenges so that they can live healthier, more present and empowered lives.
Outside of the office, Serenity loves spending time with her husband and two young daughters: working on home renovation projects, making masterpieces out of Crayola watercolor paint and enjoying the ample opportunities Southeast Alaska has for outdoor fun (although you will often find her putting a few miles in on the treadmill on rainy Juneau days).
